Medical Review Officer (MRO)

In order to ensure that positive test results are not due to prescription drugs or some other factor, a nationally accredited MRO reviews, interprets, and reports on all positive tests results. The donor is given an opportunity to discuss the positive test result with the MRO, which includes a one-on-one interview. There may be some instances in which the MRO will review negative results for quality control purposes or based on the parameters of the negative test result. The MRO is the final checkpoint in the testing process.
